This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a technology roadmap for single-phase power inversion solutions.

The ultimate goals of these development activities are to: 1) lower our clients PV power levelized cost of energy (life-cycle cost); 2) improve performance, reliability and operation in utility-scale applications; 3) develop unique competitive advantage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Review of current (and developing) conversion solutions for single-phase PV.
Perform detailed evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of various power conversion approaches.
Develop and implement test plans for multiple power conversion technology platforms for PV power plants. This covers both DC-AC, DC-DC, solid-state and electro-mechanical systems, micro-inverters, etc.
Support company inverter technology development and application strategy.
Write detailed product specifications to support product development activities.
Analyze and perform statistical analysis on field performance data from both inverters and solar modules.
Interface with strategic partners to test and qualify inverter performance.
Work closely with module product management and module R&D to improve inverter designs specific to clients module technology.
Develop internally (or co-develop with outside partners) intellectual property for inverters including hardware, software, controls and integration with other systems/technologies (i.e. energy storage, energy scheduling/forecasting, MPPT).
Support/lead engineering design (both on the system and equipment/component level) and project management activities for test/pilot applications.
Support other departments in reviewing inverter bids, developing inverter maintenance programs, and commissioning/testing inverters.
Attendance/participation at industry conferences, technical meetings and organizations.
Provide briefings/presentations to executive management.
International and domestic travel will be required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Masters preferred.
Minimum 10 years work experience in power conversion and/or solar industries.
Familiar with safety protocols for working around high power and high voltage equipment.


TECHNICAL SKILLS

Strength in the use of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Access, PowerPoint, email, internet browsers and electrical engineering software programs.
