Location Ohio (company provides relocation)
Salary level -- $135K to $160K total cash compensation, plus stock

Due to the growth of the business, they are adding a position of Development Engineer (post deposition) to their team.

Basic Job Functions:
Leads process development efforts to improve solar module performance (solar module conversion efficiency) by optimizing production processes using statistical and engineering techniques. Develops new processes / materials to drive improvements to solar module performance, stability and reliability, and reduce overall cost (cost per watt) of our clients product.

Experience:
Greater than 8 years of hands-on experience in yield, integration, device, development and/or process engineering is required.
Greater than 3 years direct project and/or people management experience
Experience in a manufacturing setting is highly desired.
Experience leading technical groups / programs.
Experience with PV / solar cells and understanding of PV device is a plus

Education:
Masters in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
PhD Strongly Preferred

Required Skills:
Expertise in thin films deposition and/or annealing (diffusion) processes with a strong fundamental understanding of phase transformations (e.g. silicide) as well as process / equipment interactions
The ability to interface with, work with, manage and drive cross-disciplinary teams with diverse technical backgrounds to a common goal
Demonstrated leadership skills with a proven track record in setting tactical direction as well as developing strategic roadmaps
Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate up, down and across organizations and organizational boundaries
Extensive experience in structured problem solving, including data driven (empirical) and model based (first principles / scientific) approaches with a high degree of comfort switching between the two
Proven track record in pushing beyond the state-of-the-art in a given area to deliver and implement innovative solutions to challenging technical problems
Excellent data analysis skills, strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) principles

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Lead efforts to improve module performance by identifying areas of potential improvement in the production process. Design, execute and analyze engineering tests. Perform data analysis on production data to identify factors influencing performance.
Improve process capability and reduce variation by identifying significant process / product parameters and determine methods for process control or develop robust processes. Identify parameters to allow for equipment matching across plants and sites.
Identify opportunities for improvement in process equipment design. Successfully interact with manufacturing and design engineers / maintenance technicians to implement equipment modifications.
Organize and lead cross functional engineering reviews. Coordinate actions of development, manufacturing and production personnel in carrying out engineering tests.
Provide direction to / mentor development engineers and technicians on process testing, data analysis and statistical methods. Lead group of 2-4 engineers and technicians.
Ensure processes are documented, develop process control plans, FMEAs and process maps.
Participate in technology start-up, transfer, and ramp activities from development site to meet yield, reliability, cost, and device performance goals.
Successfully interact with other development, manufacturing and production personnel to carryout engineering tests on the production line.
Communicate results of engineering tests in a clear and concise manner. Be able to communicate with upper management, development / manufacturing engineers, and production personnel.
Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental procedures as well as housekeeping standards.
