Our client is one of the leading energy providers in North America, we are conducting a search for a Senior Financial Analyst for their Newark Delaware area operation.
Initially the Senior Financial Analyst/Specialist will be responsible for assisting the coordination effort to comply with FASB’s current guidance on Lease Accounting based on the Accounting Standards Update (ASU) 2016-02.  This position will be based in Delaware but will provide support to other locations in the US with a focus on reviewing the General Ledgers and Contracts for potential leases.
At the completion of the 12-18 month project (approximate time frame), the Senior Financial Analyst/Specialist will progress to a financial accounting role in the organization.
  • Liaison with operations and accounting personnel at all refineries.
  • Review and analyze lease and other commercial agreements for compliance with the lease standard.
  • Act as a key member of the implementation team providing insight on system and process developments.
  • Communicate results and progress to senior management periodically.At the completion of the Lease Accounting Project, responsibilities will include:
  • Perform monthly financial analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate accounting for plant operating expenses.
  • Ensure all journal entries are made and assist in ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure all transactions of a material nature are given proper accounting recognition.
  • The ability to analyze situations and determine the proper disposition of problems and questions that arise in performing account analyses.
  • Prepare and analyze basic financial reports, assist in monthly close and perform basic account reconciliations and expense analysis.
  • Assist in other accounting projects and research as directed.
  • Accurately analyze and report financial information.
  • Work closely with corporate personnel and outside auditors; respond to queries as required.
  • Responsible for following safety rules and procedures as set forth by the Company and ensuring any peers or direct reports also comply. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 7 plus years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment, oil or energy preferred
  • Working knowledge of accounting theory and principles (GAAP)
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements
  • SAP knowledge of modules FI, CO, AA, PS preferred
  • Must have proficiency in MS Office including expert knowledge of Excel
  • Must be able to travel periodically to other facilities for approximately 12 – 18 months
