Job Title:  Mechanical Maintenance Technician

This day-shift position supports the day to day mechanical maintenance activities in the facility.
Reports to:   Maintenance Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In coordination with plant staff and under the direction of the Maintenance Manager:
  • Responsible for the mechanical maintenance and repair of all plant equipment as assigned.
  • Monitor plant equipment and analyze plant equipment operating data (vibration levels, oil quality, bearing temperatures, etc.).
  • Work call-outs as required to maintain Plant availability.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, reassemble, repair and replace mechanical equipment and associated parts.
  • Assist in scheduling, coordinating and conducting preventative maintenance activities as required.
  • Assist in directing outside contractor activities within the plant.
  • Develop, implement, perform and oversee preventative maintenance tasks for systems and equipment in the facility.
  • Responsible for seeing that all safety rules and procedures are followed on his/her shift.
  • Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommends improvements and modifications.
  • Generate, prepare, and submit various reports as assigned and directed.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection process for maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Participate in the development of site training materials and documentation as assigned.
  • Provide mentoring, training, guidance and support for site personnel as assigned.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, improvement and revision of applicable policies, standards and procedures as assigned.
  • Responsible to complete assigned safety, administrative, technical or other training as required in a timely matter.   
  • Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.

  1. A combination of experience and education in industrial mechanical maintenance processes. Experience with the construction, commissioning and start-up of combined cycle facilities is desired.
  2. Must be able to read, understand and interpret technical documents such as P&ID’s, mechanical / shop drawings and technical manuals.
  3. Experience with machine shop tooling, equipment and process is desired.
  4. Experience with welding processes, inspection methods, various metallurgy and interpreting reports is desired.
  5. Experience with rotating equipment alignment, adjustment and troubleshooting is desired.
  6. Strong aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability and production control. 
  7. Skill in communicating effectively.
  8. Experience with computer software programs such as MS word, Excel, Power Point and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is desired.
  9. Must have the manual dexterity to climb ladders / stairs, reach and operate manual and automatic valves, breakers or other devices. Twist to reach equipment surrounding desk; talk, see and hear with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job; perform simple grasping or fine manipulation; use telephone, computer or communicate through written means. Must be able to safely lift up to 50lbs from floor to standing position. Must have the ability to operate motorized equipment such as forklifts, boom supported aerial lifts, snow removal or other equipment as trained and assigned. Must be able to safely work in inclement weather conditions. 
Required Credentials and/or Designations – Driver’s License.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, periodically bending and twisting and frequently apply a moderate amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
